WHAT IS AN EVALUATION?
A psychological evaluation involves a series of questions and tasks that helps understand how a person thinks, feels, learns, and behaves. It helps identify strengths and challenges in areas like attention, memory, learning, emotional functioning, and behavior.
Benefits of a Psychological Evaluation
A psychological assessment can do the following:
-
Answer questions you may have on WHY you or a loved one is struggling.
-
Provide personalized recommendations for schools, workplaces, or healthcare providers.
What Does a Psychological Evaluation Involve?
It’s a little different for everyone, but it might include:
-
Clinical interviews with the individual and/or caregivers
-
Completing personality measures
-
Completing a series of puzzles or problems
-
Doing memory or attention tasks
What Will I Receive at the End of an Evaluation?
After the assessment is complete, you’ll receive a report that:
-
Explains the results
-
Includes a diagnosis (if there is one)
-
A list of personalized recommendations or suggested accommodations for aspects of your life (e.g., school, home, work, and relationship)
How Long Does Everything Take?
-
The testing part takes about 2 to 8 hours, depending on what’s needed.
-
The final report takes up to 3 weeks to complete, depending on the evaluation.
-
If you require the final report earlier, we do offer an expedited option for an extra fee.
