PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING VS. EVALUATION
People often use these terms interchangeably, but they mean different things. In short:
Testing gives the data.
Evaluation explains what it means and how to help.
Psychological Testing
Psychological Testing uses standardized tools to measure specific areas like memory, attention, learning, IQ, or personality. It’s a bit like lab work at a doctor’s office—it gives you clear, objective results.
Psychological Evaluation
Psychological Evaluation is a more complete picture. It includes testing, but also adds interviews, history, and clinical insights to understand someone’s mental health or learning needs—similar to how a doctor uses lab results along with other information to assess overall health.
